40% of the workforce in Brazil is made of informal workers. They’re street sellers, beach vendors, food stands owners …
9 out of 10 times, they don’t accept cards.
That’s why a new payment method called Pix was a revolution to the informal economy. It works just like the Faster Payment Services (UK), with no bureaucracy and no taxes.
To get paid on the spot, they only need to inform customers of their Pix number.
The problem? It’s a huge number.
So Mercado Pago - the biggest fintech in Latin America - came up with a simpler, faster and more modern way to help its millions of small customers: Pix Collection.
We’ve turned our sellers' PIX number into QR Codes. Then we put their QR codes on a collection of clothing and accessories they already use every single day.
Hats, bags, tshirts, aprons and many more.
The collection was launched where street sellers are: beaches, train stations, bus terminals.
And it was an instant hit with sellers from all over the country.
